Section 1

Getting Started
Install in 2 Minutes

Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, log in with your Ply credentials, and you're ready to go.

Getting Started

Installing the Extension

Step 1

Install the Extension

Open Chrome and go to the Chrome Web Store. Search for "Ply Punch-Out" or ask your Ply CSM for the direct install link. Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm the permissions. The Ply icon appears in your Chrome toolbar after a few seconds.

Step 2

Click the Ply icon in your toolbar. Enter your Ply email and password. These are the same credentials you use to log in to the Ply web app. Once connected, the icon turns green and you're ready to go.

Step 3

Set Your Keyboard Shortcut (Optional)

The default shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Y on Windows or Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac. This opens the Ply side panel instantly from any supplier page. Highly recommended for daily use.

What you'll see: After installing, look for the Ply logo in the top-right area of Chrome's toolbar. You may need to click the puzzle-piece icon to pin it so it's always visible.

What the Extension Can Access

Read cart and product data on supported supplier sites

Open a side panel on any page

Communicate with your Ply account to create POs and lists

It cannot access any other sites or personal data

Tip: The green badge ! on the Ply icon means a supplier cart has been detected on the page you're viewing. That's your signal to open the panel and import.

Section 2

Importing a
Supplier Cart

The most common workflow. Shop as normal on any supported supplier site, then pull your entire cart into Ply as a purchase order.

Cart Import

How to Import a Supplier Cart

Step 1

Shop as Normal

Go to any supported supplier website (Amazon Business, Ferguson, Grainger, etc.) and add items to your cart as you normally would. No special steps needed at this point.

Step 2

Go to Your Cart

Navigate to the supplier's cart page. The Ply icon in your toolbar will show a green badge with "!" to let you know the cart has been detected and is ready to import.

Step 3

Open the Ply Side Panel

Click the Ply icon or press Ctrl+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac). A side panel opens on the right side of your screen, showing all cart items with names, quantities, and prices.

Step 4

Choose Your Import Mode

"Create New PO" (default) creates a fresh purchase order in Ply. "Add to Existing PO" lets you select an existing draft PO and add the items to it.

Step 5

Configure Options

"Match to Catalog" (on by default) matches imported items to your existing Ply catalog so you don't create duplicates. "Update Existing Items" refreshes prices and quantities if items already exist on the PO.

Step 6

Click "Import to Ply"

The extension enriches each item with full product details and images, then creates the PO in Ply. A success message shows the PO number with a direct link to view it in Ply.

Section 3

Saving Products
to Lists

Browse supplier product pages and collect items into Ply lists before you're ready to order. Lists work across all supported suppliers.

Lists

How to Build and Import Lists

Step 1

Browse a Product Page

Go to any product detail page on a supported supplier site. You'll see a floating "Add to Ply List" button appear in the bottom-right corner of the page. The button only shows on product pages, not on search or category pages.

Step 2

Click the Button and Pick a List

A dropdown shows your existing lists. Select one to add the item, or type a new name to create a list on the fly. The item is saved with its name, SKU, price, and product image.

Step 3

Keep Browsing

Continue shopping across any supported supplier site. Add items from Ferguson, then switch to Grainger and add more. Lists pull items from all suppliers into one place.

Step 4

Import Your List

Open the Ply side panel and go to the Lists tab. Select your list and click "Import List to Ply". Choose to create a new PO or add items to an existing one.

When to use Lists vs. Cart Import: Use Cart Import when you're ready to buy right now. Use Lists when you're researching or gathering items for a future job and want to compare across suppliers first.

Section 4

AI-Powered Export
PO to Supplier Cart

Have a draft PO in Ply? Push items directly to a supplier's cart using AI. No SKU lookup, no copy-pasting.

AI Export

Exporting a PO to a Supplier Cart

Step 1

Open the Export Tab

In the Ply side panel, click the Export tab. Select the draft PO you want to push to a supplier cart from the dropdown list of your open POs in Ply.

Step 2

Select Items

Check the items you want to export. You can select all items or choose specific line items. Items you don't select stay on the PO in Ply but won't be pushed to the cart.

Step 3

Navigate to the Supplier Website

Go to the supplier's website (e.g., Ferguson.com). The extension detects which supplier you're on and confirms it's ready to export.

Step 4

Click "Export to Cart"

The AI analyzes the supplier's website and automatically searches for each item, sets quantities, and adds them to your cart. Items the AI isn't confident about go to a review queue so you can confirm or skip them individually.

Step 5

Check Out

Your supplier cart now has all the confirmed items. Proceed to checkout as normal. The supplier handles fulfillment from there.

The AI review queue: For items where the AI isn't fully confident it found the right product, it will pause and show you the match so you can confirm or skip before adding to cart. This keeps your orders accurate.

Tips and Tricks

Getting the Most Out of the Extension

  • Use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Y or Cmd+Shift+Y) for the fastest access. You'll open the panel without taking your hands off the keyboard.
  • The green badge ! on the Ply icon means a cart was detected on the current page. Look for it after you've added items to a cart.
  • You can build lists across multiple suppliers and import them as a single PO. Gather items from Ferguson and Grainger, then import everything at once.
  • The extension auto-matches imported items to your existing Ply catalog so you don't get duplicate products.
  • Product images are imported automatically from the supplier site. Your POs in Ply will show the actual product photo.
  • The extension uses the same login credentials as the Ply web app. No separate account needed.
  • The extension works alongside any other Chrome extensions you have installed. There are no known conflicts.
  • For the AI Export feature, the more specific your PO line item descriptions are, the more accurate the AI match will be on the supplier site.
Troubleshooting

Common Questions

"The extension isn't detecting my cart" +
Make sure you are on the actual cart page, not the checkout page. Try refreshing the page after you've navigated to the cart. If you use a supplier's "Pro" account (Home Depot Pro, Lowe's Pro), make sure you are logged into the Pro version of the site, not the standard consumer site.
"Items are missing from the import" +
Some supplier cart pages load items dynamically as you scroll. Scroll through your entire cart to make sure all items have loaded on the page, then open the Ply side panel and try the import again.
"I can't log in" +
Use the same email and password as your Ply web app login. If you recently changed your password, use the new one. If you're stuck, try clearing the extension data by going to chrome://extensions, finding Ply Punch-Out, clicking Details, and then Clear Site Data.
"The floating button doesn't appear on product pages" +
The "Add to Ply List" button only appears on product detail pages for supported suppliers. Make sure you are on an individual product page, not a search results page, category page, or the supplier's homepage.
"How do I update the extension?" +
Chrome updates extensions automatically in the background. To force an immediate update, go to chrome://extensions, enable Developer Mode in the top-right corner, and click the "Update" button. Your extension will pull the latest version from the Chrome Web Store.
